Some details about the development of the company:

Margot Lörcher, my mother, had always been interested in art history when she decided in 1961 to found the company. Starting with graphic arts and non-European art, the company focussed on Japanese woodcut prints soon.

At this time, I was already attracted by Japanese prints and started to read the available literature about Ukiyo-e. Simultaneously I purchased my first prints.

After the death of my mother in 1971 my sister, Dorrit Lörcher, and I carried on the company. Together we continued until 1990. Due to other professional responsibilities my sister gave up her participation in the company. Nevertheless she continues in assisting me as well as my son, Veit Bücklein.

The focus of my collection lays on prints from the 18th century, on landscapes, mainly by Hiroshige, and Surimono. You will also find a wide selection from all other fields of Japanese prints up to Shin-hanga and paintings from several schools.

It is very important for me to offer prints in fine impression with detailed descriptions. I can guarantee the genuineness of the prints and paintings.

My catalogue is published once a year, usually at the end of September. The photographs are in black and white, the text is in German only. I would be very pleased to send you a copy if you wish to receive one.
